

What is the meaning of baptism?
Baptism is a picture of what Jesus has done for us.
“Christ died for our sins … He was buried … and He rose again” (1 Cor 15:3-4)
“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ” (Col 2:12).
It’s a picture of my new life in Christ.
“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” (2 Cor 5:17).
“By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead … so also we may live a new life!” (Rom 6:4).
It’s a public commitment of our love for God, and a commitment to follow Jesus. Baptism also unites us with other followers of Jesus as part of the family of God.
“ For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. “ (1 Cor 12:13)
Who should be baptized?
Every person who has believed and trusted in Jesus to take away their sins and give them new life.
“Those who believed and accepted His message were baptized …” (Acts 2:41).
“But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News … and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” (Acts 8:12).
When should I be baptized?
As soon as you trust in Jesus for salvation.
“Those who believed … were baptized … that day!” (Acts 2:41).
“Then Philip began with the scripture and told him the Good News about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water, and the man said, ‘Look, here is water! Why shouldn’t I be baptized right now?’ Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ The man answered, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’ So they went down into the water and Philip baptized him.” (Acts 8:35-38).
What should I wear when I am baptized?
Clothes you are ok with getting wet. Women should wear shorts and a top or swimsuit. Men can wear shorts, t-shirts or a swimsuit. Bring a change of clothes and a plastic bag for your wet clothes, and a towel.
Will I have to say anything?
You will be asked if you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and if you are trusting in him as your Lord and Savior. At that point, you will be lowered just under the water.
Where can I get baptized?
You can get baptized anywhere where there is water. A river, a lake, the Church baptistery or a pool are all good options.
Who can baptize me?
Anyone who is a follower of can baptize you, when Jesus left for Heaven he told all of His followers to “go and make disciples baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.” (Matt 28:18-20).
Who can come watch?
Baptism is a celebration, so we encourage you to invite any of your relatives or friends to attend your baptism.
